Not only a state for lovers, Virginia is also considered one of the best wine travel destinations... at least according to Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and obviously we read that religiously.
Only about a two hour drive, the fifth annual Virginia Wine Expo is coming to the Greater Richmond Convention Center (403 N. Third St., Richmond, Va.) from Friday, Feb. 24 to Sunday, Feb. 26.
Although you're encouraged to pace yourself while you're there, you'll have the opportunity to taste and purchase from among 400 bottles of locally produced wine. Indulge yourself (at the proper pace, of course) all weekend long with wine, specialty foods, gourmet luncheons, and wine-and-food pairing seminars.
Ticket packages are available for special events, including seminars and a locavore brunch. Admission is $30 for a half-day, or $60 for two full days. Special hotel rates are also available. Visitors will each receive a Riedel crystal wine glass. Who doesn’t love free stuff?
All proceeds collected from the expo will benefit the Virginia Wineries Association, the Central Virginia Food Bank, and Meals on Wheels.
