B. Smith to Close Union Station Restaurant

A dining staple inside D.C.'s Union Station is preparing to close.

The Washington Business Journal reports lifestyle icon and media personality Barbara "B." Smith is shutting down her eponymous restaurant at the train station, in favor of opening more casual eatieries in the District and in other cities.

B. Smith has served up southern-themed fare at Union Station for almost 20 years. The restaurant space sits on the east side of the station, which boasts the history of having been used by U.S. presidents and international dignitaries in the early and mid-1900s.

It's not yet clear when the Union Station location's last day in business will be. The B. Smith restaurants in New York will reportedly remain open.
