Reaching some of D.C.’s most underserved students is easier when their role model is just a little older and from the neighborhood. That’s part of the impactful work that Reach Incorporated does. The organization received a $25,000 NBC4 Telemundo 44 Local Impact Grant. Here’s how they’ll spend it.

Building self-confidence in people with physical and developmental disabilities is a major commitment of D.C. nonprofit So Kids Soar. Latinas Leading Tomorrow was one of the local recipients of NBC4, Telemundo 44 and Comcast NBCUniversal’s Local Impact Grants this year. The grant will help the nonprofit expand its CORE (Creating Opportunities to Reach Excellence) after school mentorship program for young girls. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

Zenith Community Arts Foundation was one of the eight recipients of NBC4, Telemundo 44 and Comcast NBCUniversal’s Local Impact Grants this year. The foundation works with D.C. high schoolers to prepare them for in-demand jobs in construction and design industries. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

Seventy-six nonprofits received a total of $2.5 million in NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants that were announced on Tuesday.
