Competition is getting more fierce for the money you spend on electronics.

Best Buy is opening a new store in College Park, Md., later this month. The Washington Post reported the company is taking over the site on Cherry Hill Road once occupied by Linens 'n Things.

The new outlet will compete with another retailer, HHGregg, which bought most of Circuit City's locations in this area when that retailer went out of business last year. HHGregg plans to open 18 more stores in Maryland and Virignia this fall.

Best Buy had been trying to open a store in the College Park area, but zoning restrictions kept that from happening. The retailer is also opening stores at the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, Va., and Woodmore Towne Center in Largo, Md. later this year.
