Anne Arundel County police are investigating the death of a retired teacher found in a Glen Burnie, Md., parking lot Friday morning.

Police responded to a call for a sick or injured person in the parking lot of the Pep Boys and Gavigan's Furniture in the 7300 block of Ritchie Highway at 10:51 a.m. They found a woman who'd been shot inside a vehicle, authorities said.

The woman was identified as 62-year-old Myra Cason, a former teacher in the county. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier Friday, Cason was seen leaving Maryland Primary Care Physicians at about 7:50 p.m. She pulled into the parking lot where her body was found at about 8:30 a.m., authorities said.

Police are investigating Cason's death as a homicide and said it appears to be robbery-related.

Anyone with information about this case should call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP or text "MCS" plus your tip to CRIMES (274637).
