Two DC Jail Inmates Die From Accidental Drug Intoxication

Two inmates who died while in the custody of the D.C. Jail had a fatal mix of drugs in their system, according to the D.C. Department of Corrections.

Eric Terrell, 35, died on May 5, and Kenneth Parker, 28, died on May 18 while they were inmates in the D.C. Jail. Both were found unresponsive in their cells and later died after medical attention.

Autopsies of the two men found the cause of death to be mixed drug intoxication by manner of accident.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Terrell had heroin, fentanyl and diphenhydramine in his system. They said Parker had fentanyl and diphenhydramine in his system.

Investigations are continuing into how each man got the contraband drugs.
