Police in Fairfax are looking for the driver of a car that hit a man walking on a sidewalk, throwing him 50 feet into the air.

The crash happened on Fairfax Boulevard at Warwick Avenue in Fairfax City at around 10:40 p.m. Friday night.

Rescuers took the victim, 33-year-old Mohammad Esaw Jabour of the Fairfax area, to Inova Fairfax Hospital in critical condition. He remained in critical condition Monday.

Police said a witness reported seeing a Suzuki with a wheel cover leaving the scene of the accident.  Investigators had previously said that a light-colored SUV left the scene of the hit-and-run.

Authorities said that the SUV should have broken headlights and front end damage.
