Pilot Dies After Ultralight Plane Crashes in Maryland

Maryland State Police said an ultralight aircraft has crashed, and its pilot has died.

Police said Michael Malick, 71, died on Sunday after being transported to Nanticoke Hospital from the crash site in Caroline County.

Police said Malick was flying an ultralight aircraft, when he lost control shortly after takeoff at a privately owned grass airfield.

Police said they believe the plane hit a power line, and witnesses said the plane spiraled to the ground. Police said a parachute appeared to have been deployed from the aircraft.

Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board officials have been notified of the crash.
