Jose Izaguirre Calderon, of Frederick County, Md., faces up to five years in prison after the death of his friend.

On Wednesday, the 23-year-old pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in August when his car slid off of Mount Tabor Road near Myersville.

The force of the crash threw two passengers from the car, killing 42-year-old Roberto Monarca.

Izaguirre Calderon will be sentenced June 27 and also faces a probation violation hearing Wednesday. At the time of the crash, he was on probation from a previous drunken driving charge.
