Maryland Man Arrested in Shooting Death of Ex's Boyfriend

A Silver Spring man has been arrested in the shooting death of his ex's boyfriend.

Montgomery County Police said Wednesday that 24-year-old Erick Ramirez of Silver Spring was arrested Tuesday night in northwest Washington, D.C. on a first-degree murder charge. The charge stems from the Monday night shooting death of 24-year-old Jonathan Lopez of Brentwood.

Police say witnesses reported that Lopez was in a two-year relationship with Ramirez's ex, also the mother of his 4-year-old child.

The evening of the shooting, police say the woman was picking the child up from Ramirez's home, and that the two men exchanged multiple text messages.

Police say Lopez then went to Ramirez's neighborhood, where Ramirez confronted and fatally shot Lopez before fleeing. No attorney is listed for Ramirez in online court records.
