D.C. Officials to Open New Cardozo Education Campus

District of Columbia officials are celebrating the completion of their latest major school renovation.

Mayor Vincent Gray will host an opening ceremony for the new Cardozo Education Campus on Friday.

The city spent $130 million to modernize the aging Cardozo High School. It will now serve students in grades 6-12 and includes a restored indoor pool, technologically advanced classrooms and specially designed practice rooms and performance areas for the band and chorus.

Former mayor Adrian Fenty started a major push to upgrade the city's school buildings, and the effort has continued under Gray.
