Police Investigate 2 Separate Homicides in Prince George's County

Two people were killed within five hours of each other in separate incidents in Prince George's County.

The more recent homicide happened just after 5 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Annapolis Road and Cooper Lane in Landover Hills. 

Authorities say officers were called to the area for a reported assault. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police are also investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead and two other people critically injured in Capitol Heights. 

Officers were called to the 6800 block of Jade Court at 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a woman and two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

One of the men died at the scene. The surviving victims are in critical condition at an area hospital. 

Detectives are working to establish suspects and motives in each case. No arrests have been made.  

There have been 43 homicides in the county this year. At this time in 2014, there had been 40 murders. Police say violent crime in the county is down 12 percent.
