John and Ann Betar, aged 102 and 98, respectively, are getting ready to celebrate their 81st wedding anniversary as the longest-married couple in America, according to one Christian group's accounting earlier this year. They'll celebrate the big occasion on Monday, 81 years after they eloped on Nov. 25, 1932 — when the then-17-year-old girl, eager to flee her parents marriage plans for her, eloped with her 21-year-old across-the-street neighbor. The couple tied the knot in the depths of the Depression, to the consternation of their parents, and today, they have 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. "We have watched the world change together," John told the "Today" show.
