Wilson Bridge Project Earns Another Award

Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia have received a transportation award for construction of the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

The America's Transportation Award Grand Prize was awarded for the $2.5 billion project designed to relieve a major bottleneck on the Interstate 95 corridor.

The inaugural competition received more than 40 entries. It was sponsored by AAA, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

The prize includes a $20,000 graduate-level scholarship in the transportation field.

The twin-span bridge project also has won several design awards, including one in May dubbed the "Oscar of Civil Engineering" by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
