3 Arrested After Incident at 7-Eleven and Crash on Beltway

Police confirm they arrested three suspects after an incident at a Silver Spring 7-Eleven store and a police chase that led to a crash on the Capital Beltway early Tuesday.

Surveillance video from the 7-Eleven at 11303 Lockwood Drive shows two people in dark clothing running into the store and spray-painting and tampering with the surveillance cameras. Store employees say it happened around 4 a.m.

The suspects then ran out of the store. It doesn't appear that they took anything from the store.

Two suspects were arrested after a foot chase from the 7-Eleven, and a third suspect fled the area in a pickup.

Montgomery County Police pursued the pickup into Prince George's County, where Maryland State Police got involved.

The third suspect was apprehended after the pickup crashed on the Beltway. The vehicle was seen with significant damage.

The crash shut down the Outer Loop of the Beltway near Kenilworth Avenue (Route 201) in Greenbelt. All lanes have since reopened.

Montgomery County police sources stell News4 that police are investigating whether this incident may be tied to a string of ATM thefts in the area. The FBI was involved in an investigation into the thefts.
