Authorities say a driver traveling through Rock Creek Parkway went off the road and into the shallow water of the nearby creek but was able to get out of the car and was rescued.
U.S. Park Police say the crash happened around noon on Sunday when an adult female went off the road and into the creek near the P Street ramp. Police say the woman was the only person in the car at the time of the crash and that she got out of the car on her own and stood on top of it waiting to be rescued.
Police say she was taken to a hospital for observation because of exposure to the cold water.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
