40 Years of the Marine Corps Marathon

Four decades of military pride -- and grit -- are on display at the 40th running of the Marine Corps Marathon Sunday, October 25, in Arlington.

The race will start at 7:20 a.m. in Arlington, Virginia on Route 110 between Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon. It will end at the Marine Corps War Memorial near the back entrance to Arlington National Cemetery.

And for the tenth consecutive year, the Marine Corps Marathon 10K will coincide with the marathon, starting on the National Mall but finishing with the marathon at the Marine Corps War Memorial.

The marathon, which will start in Crystal City, draws thousands of runners and spectators to the area every year to support the troops. Runners can expect a new course this year, which follows a slightly different track to the finish line.

Event organizers recommend using Metro to access the starting point via the L’Enfant Plaza and Archives stations along the Yellow and Green lines.

The marathon recommends five locations for spectators to watch the race: the MCM Start Line on Route 110 in Arlington; the Lincoln Memorial; the National Mall; the area surrounding the Crystal City Metro station; and the Finish Line at the Marine Corps War Memorial.
