Windows of 21 Cars Broken in Alexandria Garage

Residents in Alexandria, Virginia, woke up to find their car windows smashed. It happened at an apartment complex between King St. and Braddock Rd. There have been a series of similar robberies in the D.C. area and News4 Transportation Reporter Adam Tuss explains how to best protect your car.

Many Alexandria residents headed to work Wednesday morning only to find their car windows broken and the interiors covered in broken glass.

The windows of 21 cars were broken in the garage of a condominium building on the 4500 block of Strutfield Lane, police said.

Residents were shocked.

"Twenty-one cars in one night. You would think in a community like this, someone would have heard something," one resident said.

The windows of at least 29 cars were smashed in Alexandria's West End neighborhood in late November.

It may be tempting to leave your car doors open so someone does not smash them, but keep them locked no matter what, Alexandria police department spokeswoman Crystal Nosal said.
