Crash Backed Up I-395 for 6 Miles in Northern Virginia

Two lanes of southbound I-395 in Northern Virginia reopened Wednesday night after they were blocked by a crash during rush hour.

At one point, traffic had backed up all the way to the D.C. border.

The four-vehicle crash occurred just before the Little River Turnpike exit in Alexandria, Exit 3. The backup extended 5 or 6 miles, according to D.C. emergency officials.

The crash had been cleared and traffic had resumed to usual rush hour levels by 6 p.m., officials said.
