What You're Doing Tonight 7/4

Fireworks of course, Double Duty at Rock & Roll Hotel, and Fort Know Five

Thanks to those conveniently located fireworks stands, you've probably had enough explosions to last you for the entire month of July. But if you're a glutton for punishment, you can check out our fireworks guide here.

For those seeking less family-friendly entertainment, the Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H St. N.E.) provides a couple of nice options, with the Mass Appeal dance party upstairs and the Fringe Fest downstairs. Although the Mixtape party has a $5 cover, maybe if you get really sweaty dancing at Mass Appeal they'll let you slide. Doors, 9:30 p.m.

DC-based DJ collective Fort Knox Five has gained an international following since they formed from various ESL Recordings projects. Although they generally operate as DJs, if you check them out at the Black Cat (1811 14th St. N.W.) main stage, you'll get an energetic stage show, as well as performances by artists they've worked with on their Radio Free DC and Radio Free DC Remixed albums. Also expect guest appearances by Asheru and Mustafa Akbar (another ESL alum), plus a few hometown surprises. DJ Regal and the All Good Funk Alliance open. $10; 10 p.m.
