MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a 13-year-old girl was killed and two men were injured when someone fired at a group of young people hanging out behind a Maryland convenience store.
Baltimore County police spokeswoman Jen Peach said by telephone Tuesday that a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and seeing someone on the ground in Middle River late Monday.
Peach says the group of young people was sitting on a curb or a wall behind a 7-Eleven when shots were fired, killing the girl and injuring two men.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, but it’s not clear whether the target was the entire group or a particular individual or individuals.
Peach says detectives are checking area businesses to see if surveillance video shows the group interacting with anyone.
