Washington fans get emotional on Twitter with reports of team name being retired on Monday

Monday will reportedly mark the end of a certain era in Washington football, as the team is expected to retire its name.

Washington's football franchise was founded in 1933, and the team got its name when the franchise moved from Boston to the nation's capital in 1937.

Over that span, Washington has won three Super Bowls, two NFL championships (pre-NFL-AFL merger) and had over 30 players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

So, as fans found out Sunday evening that the team's name was soon to be a thing of the past, many of them became emotional on Twitter about the team's successes over the years.
