Kevin Durant and Mike Conley both have trophy cases filled with basketball accolades. Now, they’ll have to make room for one more trophy on their shelf: the Academy Award.

Durant, 32, and Conley, 33, were two of the 10 executive producers of the now Oscar-winning live-action short film, “Two Distant Strangers.”The film is a 32-minute piece that sees New York graphic designer Carter James (played by acclaimed rapper Joey Bada$$) trying to get home the morning after a first date. Similar to a macabre Groundhog Day, James gets trapped in a tragic time loop which sees him confronted over and over again by an aggressive NYPD officer.
Brimming with social commentary, “Two Distant Strangers” took home the Oscar for best live-action short film on Sunday, which made it the second award the film has taken home along with the African-American Film Critics Association award for best short film.
Durant and Conley join the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant as the only NBA players to ever win an Academy Award. Bryant won the 2018 Oscar for best animated short film for his work “Dear Basketball,” which was an ode to the sport Bryant played professionally for over 20 years.
