Fernando faces his suspension as a result of an altercation in Game 6 in which Atlanta's John Collins got into it with MVP candidate Joel Embiid.
Embiid hit Collins as the former went up for a layup attempt, and Collins was unhappy when he went to the ground. Embiid did not back down and the two players had to be separated by the officials and arena security.
During scuffles on the court, any player on the bench is forbidden to step onto the court, regardless of whether or not they are looking to escalate the situation. As things heated up, Fernando can be seen heading toward the situation, though he never gets involved and is pulled back by a member of the Hawks quickly.
Still, it was enough for the NBA to enact their zero tolerance policy and suspend the big man for the biggest game of his career. Fernando has only appeared in two games this postseason, recording two total points and one rebound.
