Ex-Terp Brandon Lowe hits two HRs in Game 2 of World Series originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Any University of Maryland fan or alumni watching the World Series on Tuesday night had plenty to smile about.
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe, who starred for the Terps in 2014 and 2015, became the first former Maryland player to hit a home run in the Fall Classic in nearly 80 years.
If Lowe's first long-ball wasn't enough, the 26-year-old did it again two at-bats later. On an off-speed pitch from Dodgers righthander Dustin May, Lowe stayed back, squared up the barrel of his bat and launched his second home run of the evening.
Lowe's second four-bagger of the game gave Tampa a commanding 5-0 lead in Game 2, as the Rays try to level up the series after dropping Game 1 to Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The pair of home runs had to feel great for Lowe, who went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Tampa Bay's Game 1 loss.
The Rays second baseman isn't the only ex-Terp participating in this year's World Series, as Dodgers reliever Adam Kolarek pitched for the Terps from 2008 through 2010.
Now, all Terps fans need to see is the Kolarek versus Lowe matchup to make this year's Fall Classic complete.
