Steelers Favorite Psychopath Should Be Back for Bengals Game

If you're looking for the most underrated Steeler, it may be the team's craziest bar hopper. Thankfully, Jeff "Skippy" Reed should be healthy in time for the Bengals game after he strained his calf against the Jaguars.

It's hard to emphasize just how good Reed has been. He is a perfect 9-for-9 this year (including the game-winner against the Ravens in overtime), and he's also added nearly five yards to his kickoffs this year.

And as Mike Tomlin pointed out after the Ravens tried to ice Reed with a timeout, he's also nearly impossible to rattle. As the headed into the tunnel, Tomlin yelled to Reed "you can't freeze a psychopath."Tomlin may be on to something. Reed may be crazy, but he doesn't seem to mind pressure. And while the winds and field conditions at Heinz Field have cause multiple kickers to melt, Reed has handled the difficult conditions with no problems.

He's now connected on 32 of his last 34 field goals, and the only two misses came on an attempt on the mudbog that was Heinz Field for the Dolphins game and on a 65-yard prayer of an attempt at the end of the first half against the Broncos last year. So in semi-reasonable conditions, he's been perfect for a season and a third.

For any Steelers fan who remembers the nightmare that was Kris Brown in 2001, having a kicker that can be counted probably adds a couple of years to our lives. Thankfully the Steelers have a psychopath who has figured out Heinz Field.
