White House on Trump Facebook Suspension: ‘Words Do Matter'

After Facebook announced it was suspending former President Donald Trump from its platforms for two years, White House press secretary Jen Psaki called for social media platforms to fulfill its “responsibility” to stop the spread of misinformation. “Words do matter. Words do have an impact,” Psaki said. “We saw the impact on Jan. 6, of words on social media platforms. And we’ve seen the impact of words as it relates to misinformation traveling around the vaccine, around election integrity.”
