Putin Calls Obama to Talk Ukraine Crisis

Russian President Vladimir Putin called President Barack Obama on Friday to discuss the proposal for a diplomatic resolution in Ukraine, whose Crimea Russia has annexed, the White House announced. During their conversation, Obama urged Putin to pull troops back from the Ukrainian border, saying a diplomatic solution remained possible only if Russia did so and took steps to violate Ukraine's sovereignty further, according to the White House. Both leaders agreed that Secretary of State John Kerry and his counterpart, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, should meet to discuss the next steps of the diplomatic process.
