Pakistani Taliban Splits Amid Infighting

The Pakistan Taliban split into two groups on Wednesday, with the leader of the breakaway faction saying most militants had forgotten their Islamic ideals and turned to crime, NBC News reported. The new group, called Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan-South Waziristan (TTP-SW), decided to quit Maulana Fazlullah's faction and work under the leadership of Mullah Mohammad Omar, the leader of the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan. The breakaway group wants peace talks with the government while the main insurgency has announced that it will continue their attacks.
