Miami Urges People Living Near Construction Cranes to Evacuate

City of Miami officials are urging people who live near construction cranes to evacuate before Hurricane Irma hits South Florida. The cranes are built to withstand up to 145 mph winds, but Irma is sustaining winds up to 185 mph. City officials say the arms of the cranes need to remain loose and are not tied down. The arms’ counterbalance is very heavy and can cause severe damage if the crane collapses.
