Jenna Fischer: “Pam Will Be Pregnant” When “The Office” Returns

While promoting her new movie, “Hall Pass,” Jenna Fischer chats about possible replacements for her “Office” co-star Steve Carell. So, who is she trying to persuade to come on the show?

It will be Baby #2 for Jim and Pam.

Actress Jenna Fischer confirmed in an interview with New York magazine that her real life pregnancy will be written into the upcoming Season Eight of the NBC comedy "The Office."

"Pam will be pregnant when the season starts,” says Fischer. “Pam and Jim snuck away last season on Valentine’s Day, and they had sex. The story is that they conceived this baby at that time and were keeping it a secret until we come back from the summer.”

For Fischer, the script for the new season opener - the first season of the post-Steve Carell era - was something of a happy accident.

“When we started shooting that [Valentine’s Day] episode, I thought to myself, If everything goes well, this is going to be a very, very convenient coincidence,” she says. “And I think I found out I was pregnant when we were shooting that episode.”

"The Office" returns in the fall, with James Spader - at least temporarily - filling in for the departed Carell as manager of Dunder-Mifflin.
