Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Woman in Accokeek

A driver struck a woman in Prince George’s County in the early morning hours in the area of Indian Head Highway and Farmington Road East and left her for dead. News4’s Darcy Spencer spoke to people in Accokeek who say the stretch of road where the woman was killed is dangerous for drivers and pedestrians.

Prince George's County police are searching for the driver who fatally struck a woman along Indian Head Highway in Accokeek, Maryland, Friday morning. 

Nefertiti Kemoris Horton, 39, was likely walking down the side of the road when she was struck near Farmington Road East at 12:45 a.m., Prince George's County police said. 

Horton was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say the driver did not stop after hitting the woman. Investigators don't have a description of the vehicle, but they believe it may have front-end damage. 

A stretch of Indian Head Highway was closed for several hours for the police investigation. The road reopened at about 5:30 a.m.
