A construction crew doing renovations at the White House got an unwelcome surprise Wedesday morning. A contractor accidentally struck a service line that spewed a geyser into the air, D.C. Water said.

The impromptu fountain sprang up on West Executive Drive, which separates the North Lawn of the White House from the Old Executive Office Building.

The crew has since shut down the water.
