Mayor Gray Calls for Statehood at “Let Freedom Ring” Ceremony

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray called on the crowd to join D.C.’s more than 600,000 residents in their pursuit for statehood. “We pay more than $3.5 billion in federal taxes but don’t even get a final say in how we spend it locally,” Gray said. “We must let freedom ring from the river of Anacostia… and we must let freedom ring to Capitol Hill itself.”
