Unidentified Body Found in Fort Washington Creek

Police are trying to determine if a woman’s body found in a Fort Washington, Md., creek could be a missing woman from D.C.

The body of a woman was found wrapped in a bag floating in Swan Creek last night in Fort Washington, Md., Prince George's County police said.

Just after 9 p.m., someone passing by the creek at 1221 Braemer Circle discovered the body and called 911. Police have not identified the remains, but are looking into the possibility that the victim is woman reported missing in D.C.

Shavon Phillips was last seen dropping her daughter off at a day-care center in Northeast Monday. She never returned to pick up her daughter and hasn't been heard from since. The 23-year-old was supposed to start a new job at a hotel this week but never showed up for that.

Last night, someone broke into Phillips's apartment, News4's Pat Collins reported. Her computer and other items are missing.

Phillips's family said police collected DNA samples and dental information for the missing woman.
