Three Dead in Va. Mobile Home Fire

Three people died in a fire in their Triangle, Va., mobile home early Tuesday.

A gate security guard at the nearby Quantico base spotted smoke and called 911 shortly before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Prince William County Fire crews responded to the home in the 18700 block of Fuller Heights Road. When they extinguished the blaze, they found the bodies of two people in the home.

The body of a third person was found several hours later. Friends told News4 a 19-year-old man, his mother and her boyfriend lived at the home. They also say two of the occupants smoked cigarettes, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

A next door neighbor choked back tears talking about the fire. "If I only had left for work 10 minutes later, maybe I could have saved them," said Eric Barbour. "I mean, it's just awful."

Officials have not released the identities of the victims, but said all three victims are believed to be adults and occupants of the home.

The trailer was destroyed, with its roof partially collapsed.

"The ceiling, or the roof, and the walls did fail in some areas, so that probably provides you an idea of how intense the fire was," said Prince William County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Curtis Brodie.
