What do you call a July morning that dips into the mid-50s? According to Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Tom Keirein, it's a new weather term known as "Jultember."
It was 55 degrees around 6 a.m. Thursday. The last time D.C. saw that low of a number on this date was back in 1976.

Along with tying a record low, the unseasonably cool weather will creep into the afternoon forecast.
While the average high this time of year is 89 degrees, Thursday is only expected to reach 83. It's all thanks to the cool "polar vortex" air drifting around the region.

Be sure to enjoy low humidity and not-so-hot weather this weekend, before the real July heat climbs back to the D.C. area. Kierein says to expect for temps in the 90s by the middle of next week.
