DC police are looking for the person who opened fire, wounding three people – including two students – just a cuople blocks from Ballou High School Tuesday morning.
One of two students shot within a half mile of a southeast Washington high school ran to the school for help Tuesday morning, police sources tell News4's Pat Collins.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said two 17-year-olds and a 20-year-old were getting off a Metrobus in the 3100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE when they got into an altercation around 9 a.m. At some point during the altercation, the victims were shot.
Both teens are students at Ballou High School. The third victim is a former student at the school.
All three suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
Police used dogs and helicopters to search for two gunmen, who remain at large.
Ballou was placed on lockdown shortly after the incident, and several schools in the area were placed on alert status.
