Apps Aim to Keep Teen Drivers Safe

A number of apps are available to try to keep young drivers safe and prevent distracted driving. News4’s Megan McGrath reports.

New teen drivers age 16 and 17 are almost three times as likely as adults to be involved in a fatal crash, new research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety says.

Drivers in this age group are 3.9 times likely as drivers 18 and older to be involved in a crash and 2.6 times as likely to be in a fatal crash.

The biggest risk factors are distraction, speeding and not wearing a seat belt.

A number of apps can help prevent distracted driving and reward safe driving habits.
