ROCKVILLE, Md. -- A Bethesda teenager charged in a bomb-making probe has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of attempted carjacking.
As part of Wednesday's plea, Collin McKenzie-Gude, 19, admitted that he tried to steal a car from a 78-year-old man last summer.
When authorities searched McKenzie-Gude's home last summer, on the day of the attempted carjacking, they found military-style weapons, armor-piercing bullets, fake IDs and a map of Camp David.
Charges of possession of an unregistered explosive device and production of false identification documents are still pending against McKenzie-Gude in federal court. A trial is set for Aug. 4.
McKenzie-Gude's attorney says the teen never intended to hurt anyone.
