SUV Driver Dies in Beltway Crash

Investigation closed lanes early Friday.

All lanes of the inner loop of the Beltway are back open after a deadly crash early Friday morning.

The accident happened near Georgia Avenue at 2 a.m.

Police say an SUV crashed into the back of a tractor trailer, killing the driver of the SUV.  The driver of the truck was not injured.

Maryland State Police identified the driver of the truck as Rudolph Wilson of Falling Waters, West Virginia.  The victim was identified only as a 20-year-old white male from Mount Airy resident.

Wilson told News4's Tracee Wilkins that he slowed down as the vehicles approached a work zone.  However, the vehicle following did not.

"I couldn't do anything because he was coming up so fast," Wilson said.  The truck driver does not face any charges in the crash.

The roads were closed for a few hours while police investigated the accident scene.
