Suspect Arrested in Slaying of Popular H Street Deli Owner

Police have made an arrest in the murder of June Lim, a deli owner who was killed opening her shop on H Street in Northeast D.C. Shomari Stone reports.

D.C. police made an arrest in the high-profile slaying of a popular H Street deli owner.

Steven Vondell Williams, 46, of northwest Washington, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder while armed in the shooting of 64-year-old June Lim, of Rockville, Md.

About 6:15 a.m. June 14, a citizen flagged down a police officer about an unresponsive woman inside Grace Deli at 7th and H streets in Northeast, police said. She had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.

The shooting occurred during a robbery, News4’s Pat Collins reported.

Williams’s DNA was found on a cash register drawer inside the deli and a holster left at the scene, sources told Collins.

Williams was picked up on a probation violation last summer

Lim planned to retire next year.
