A moisture train from the south is getting ready to hammer the D.C. area with more rain through Wednesday night and potentially put a damper on any pre-July 4th activities.
Storm Team 4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer said the flow of rain and moisture stretches all the way back to Florida and could create potential flash flooding for the region. He said some areas have already seen more than 1” of rain today and could see an additional 1-2 inches from this system.
“We going to get pounded,” Kammerer said, pointing to his radar screens.
Kammerer said this storm is the result of tropical influences and radar indicated a wide stream of increasingly organized activity flowing up the Atlantic coast. He did not expect high winds to accompany the rain, although he did caution there could be severe weather in spots.
