A man who’s been a fixture of his community for many years was beaten to death during a robbery at his small DC grocery store on the 4th of July.
A deli owner who was beaten and robbed on July 4 died Tuesday, and police are still searching for the suspects in his death.
Metropolitan police said James Oh, 76, of Rockville, Maryland, died after his store, The Corner Grocery & Deli in the 5500 block of Colorado Avenue NW was robbed Friday. Two suspects, seen in a video released by police, beat Oh during the incident.
The men -- wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and dark pants -- pushed Oh's wife to the floor behind the register and grabbed $3,000 cash.
Neighbors around the area said Oh, affectionately known as Mr. James, and his wife ran the store for 20 years.
Their daughter, Susie Pham, told News4's Shomari Stone her mother is heartbroken.
"She's doing as best as she can in this type situation," she said. "I'm just trying to remain strong for her."
She described her father as extremely thoughtful and kind.

Police were able to locate the getaway vehicle, which turned out to be stolen. They are hoping the release of the video will help them locate either or both suspects.
"If they could just imagine their own father being beaten to death, and the type of impact that leaves on the family," Pham said.
