Stabbing Is D.C.'s First Homicide of 2013

After marking its lowest murder rate since the 1950s in 2012, DC has its first homicide of 2013. News4’s Jackie Bensen reports.

D.C. police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2013.

A man was stabbed in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Raasheem Jamal Rich, 38, of Northeast, was stabbed after an argument at a liquor store, police said.

Police have what they hope is a significant lead, News4's Jackie Bensen reported. The people who fled the scene on foot left behind a blue minivan that was taken away as evidence.

In 2012, D.C. had its lowest murder rate since the 1950s.
