Similar Armed Robberies Along C&O Canal Within Days of Each Other

U.S. Park Police are investigating two robberies along a popular trail in Georgetown. In both cases, the victim says one of the robbers had a large gun. News4’s David Culver reports.

Two people reported being robbed at gunpoint within days of each other along the C&O Canal near the Georgetown Waterfront, U.S. Park Police said.

Three people robbed victims Jan. 6. One was armed with a large gun and another had a hand gun, Park Police said.

On Wednesday, two people robbed victims, and again, one had a large gun and the other had a handgun, according to police.

Each robbery took place near the Old Aqueduct Bridge, police said.

Police believe they may be connected.

Anyone with information about the robberies should call police at 202-610-8737.

“That’s a heavily traveled area, so likely you saw something if you were there,” Park Police Sgt. Anna Rose said.

No victims were hurt, but police hope to catch the gunmen before a robbery escalates.
