Additional Silver Line Cars Create Congestion for Silver, Orange and Blue

The Silver Line is causing capacity problems through the Rosslyn Metro stop, and the transit agency says the only solution may be costly.

The Silver Line is the newest addition to the multiple trains that funnel into the Rosslyn Metro station, but there is only one tunnel for it to share with the Orange and Blue lines.

The added cars for the Silver Line created congestion and caused on-time performance to suffer for all three lines.

One solution is to build another Potomac crossing, but Metro said it may have to realign its service to accommodate what is happening on the system right now.

A Metro spokesperson said the issue will be addressed at Thursday's board meeting.
