5 Dead in Murder-Suicide in La Plata, Maryland: Sheriff

A homeowner found multiple people dead inside their home Friday evening

NBC Universal, Inc. Investigators say a man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, her brother and mother, and another man at their home in Maryland. News4’s Mauricio Casillas reports.

Five adults were found dead in a home in La Plata, Maryland, Friday evening, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

A homeowner returned from work to find multiple people dead inside the home in the 3000 block of Wildflower Drive. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the location around 4 p.m., according to the sheriff.

In a Saturday update, the sheriff's office said the deaths were a quadruple-murder and suicide.

An initial investigation revealed the suspect Andre Sales, 28, who does not live at the house, killed himself and four others with a gun. The victims are his ex-girlfriend, Sara Mann, 21; her brother Kai Mann, 18; their mother, Sommaly Mann, 48; and another man who was inside the home, Jovon Watson, 23 of White Plains, according to the sheriff.

Two children were initially unaccounted for but were later found unharmed at a separate location.

Deputies said the scene was contained. They spoke with the homeowner who found the bodies.

Charles County Sherrif's Office said deputies are processing evidence. Friends and family are being interviewed to help establish a motive.
