Children Injured by Fallen Tree Limb at Bible Camp

A tree branch falls on members of a vacation bible camp at Garfield Park in Southeast.

Children were taken to an area hospital after a large tree limb fell on them in southeast D.C. Tuesday afternoon.

D.C. Fire and EMS evaluated and transported five people, including three children, from Garfield Park in the 600 block of Third Street SE.

About 25 children of various ages were at the park with the Peoples Church Summer Vacation Bible Camp for Fun Day in the Park, News4's Pat Collins reported. Several children were marching around the tree in the shade when the large limb fell.

Three children and two adults suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
