Residents Without Power in Adams Morgan Due to Transformer Fire

Five-hundred customers are without power in Adams Morgan after a transformer fire, officials said Saturday.

DC Fire and EMS said the fire happened in the 1800 block of Clydesdale Place NW.

No one was injured or displaced and the fire is now out, fire officials said.

Pepco said the initial report was for a “fuse issue” but upon further evaluation, it became clear that three fuses and one transformer were damaged.

Pepco said crews are on site and working to restore power to as many customers as possible. The transformer is difficult to repair and some customers near the transformer may be without power until 12 p.m. Sunday, Pepco said.

It appears most of the outages affected residential buildings, Pepco said.

Pepco does not know at this time what caused the issue.
